Chiesa di Filignano

Filignano

Around the year 1750 the Miranda family started  the construction of the parish Church. To this day the people are proud of its beauty. When the building was completed, the people of Filignano planted a young linden in the square in front of the Church. Today it can be admired in its mighty size, more than two centuries old.
The following words are engraved in the façade: “In this Church of Filignano a mass must be celebrated every day in perpetuity for the soul of the Duke of Miranda, Francesco Caracciolo, as stated in the act of foundation written by the most excellent lady Duchess, his wife, D. Gaetana di Silvay Alagon by hand of Notary Salvatore Palumbo in Naples on October 28, 1757”.
